“I was born and live in León.
There are three major influences from my childhood that led me to photography: classic cinema, literature, and painting.
The pictorial styles that have influenced me the most include French and American Impressionism, Expressionism, and one of my favorite artists, Kandinsky. I’m also drawn to Dutch 17th-century painting, genre scenes, and the Realism of Edward Hopper. No one captures solitude, mystery, uncertainty, and reflection quite like him. I feel reflected in his way of seeing the world—as if it were a stage, and I’m a spectator.
Photography is an expression of my emotions. I’m drawn to solitude, the intimacy of everyday moments, and the beauty of small things. I aim to capture seemingly insignificant instants. I want to photograph thoughts.
Nothing is premeditated; I often encounter situations that catch my attention, observing what happens around me without being constrained.
Elderly people move me—the passage of time, their shadows. The gaze of dogs also touches me deeply; they reflect pure feelings and heartbreaking innocence.
For eight years, I painted in oils. Color is an essential part of my creativity; I associate it with the child within me and allow myself to play with it, mixing it like a palette. I treat each photograph as if it were a canvas.
I evolve; I don’t confine myself to a single style. It depends on the moment, the emotions. Photography, like life, can’t always be seen through the same eyes.”
