“I like to think about myself as a director, I look for backgrounds, I choose subjects, I place
them in the frame and build up stories around them. I like it when pictures make you
wonder who the subject is, what is he/she doing, what is happening between subjects and
what is going to happen next. I was trained as an architect, that’s why I look for symmetry
and harmony between elements. I am also very much attracted by bright colors, and I love
combining them with deep shadows.”
Francesca started shooting and developing photos while studying architecture in Naples,
Italy. After graduating, she took a 3-month photography course, and soon after she moved
to NYC, with the idea of becoming a professional photographer. Once there, she ended up
working as an architect, taking pictures in her free time.
Back in Naples, she got passionate about Street Photography and since then her work has been exhibited in various photography festivals and exhibitions worldwide (Women Street Photographers, Brazil 2025/ Kuala Lampur 2023/ Mexico 2021/ Brussels 2019; Women In Street, Singapore 2024/ San Francisco 2019;Teheran Street Photography Festival 2023; Fujifilm Moments Street Awards, Poland 2023; Half The Sky, Tokyo 2023; The Wall of Women by Women, Australia 2023; Street Sans Frontieres, Paris 2022/ 2019; Treviso Photographic Festival 2021; and more), and it has been featured in numerous international magazines and webpages.
Since 2020 she has been a member of an international street photography collective
called “Through the Lands“, which aims to connect photographers from all over the world
to show their unique P.O.V. of the countries they visit.
In 2021 she appears, among other 99 female street photographers, in the book “Women
Street Photographers” curated by Gulnara Samoilova and edited by Prestel Publishing.
In June 2023 an article about Francesca has been published on the italian magazine “Il
Fotografo“. In the same year she collaborates with Fujifilm Italia to narrate the “Summer
Jamboree” Festival in Senigallia in one of their X-Stories; and in September she wins the
second prize with her collection “Napolism” at the Gothenburg Street Photo Festival.
In March 2024 her name appears among 5 Masters of Street Photography on the online
magazine Fotocult.it. In the same month she publishes her first Zine with Docu Magazine,
which includes 20 pictures taken in Indian 2023 at the Magh Mela Festival.
In 2025 she will have her solo exhibition at the Festival Fotografico Europeo in Milan.
Francesca has been Guest Speaker and Judge for several Festivals like Italian Street
Photo Festival, Istanbul Street Photography Festival and Gothenburg Street Photo
Festival. Furthermore, she has run her own workshops in Naples, as well as with other
street photographers and organizations like Vineet Vohra, Giedo van der Zwan (Shoot like
a local) and Eyeshot Magazine.
