Nils Jorgensen was born in Denmark in 1958 and educated at King’s School, Canterbury, England, where he first began capturing street photographs.
He later studied photography at West Surrey College of Art and Design before moving to Nairobi, East Africa, where he worked as a stringer photographer for The Associated Press.
In 1982 he joined Rex Features Ltd. in London as a staff photographer, covering politics, royalty, art, sport and show business while continuing to develop his street photography practice.
In 2002 he became a member of the street photography collective iN-PUBLiC, and his work has since been published in Street Photography Now, London Street Photography 1860-2010, The World Atlas of Street Photography, The Street Photographer’s Manual, How to Take Great Photographs and 100 Great Street Photographs.
His images have been exhibited internationally, showcasing his passion for capturing the energy, unpredictability and humour of everyday life.
