Valeria Cunha
She is a Portuguese photographer whose journey in photography began in 2019. Growing up on a small island in the Azores, she always felt connected to the untamed spirit of the ocean and guided by an endless curiosity. That curiosity led her not only to seek unexplored lands but also to uncover the hidden poetic layers within places she thought she knew. Surrounded by the silent and isolated beauty of nature, she learned to see the world differently, paying attention to the details that often go unnoticed and discovering the subtle rhythms and textures of life.
Her path situates her between worlds—the intimacy of an island and the vastness of distant lands and seas, between imagination and reality, between the present and what is yet to come. She focuses on street, travel, and documentary photography, working both with the vibrancy of color and the raw depth of black and white. To her, photography is more than a form of expression; it is a way to connect with life, a space where stories intertwine and emotions come to life. Through her images, she hopes to create moments that endure—photographs that move, awaken curiosity, and invite the viewer to dream and reflect.
She is the curator of four renowned galleries on Instagram.
Her work has been published in several magazines and has been featured in numerous group exhibitions. Additionally, she was invited as a judge for the Livorno Photography Meeting competition
