With a background in painting and a creative journey that’s taken her from staged portraiture to minimalist architecture, Aude eventually found her true passion on the streets. Since 2017, street photography has become more than a medium for her—it’s become a form of therapy.
For Aude, every walk is a quiet pursuit of light, movement, and the subtle stories unfolding around her.
Photography helps her quiet her restless mind. It’s a meditative process—observing, chasing light, and connecting with the world around her. Her photos reflect that mindful approach—transforming everyday scenes into poetic observations of human emotion.

She began her career at age 18 with an ongoing project titled “Por Su Gente.” This series of images captures the passion of the fans of her neighborhood soccer club, Huracán. In 2018, a trip to Hong Kong sparked her passion for street photography, transforming her perspective and photographic approach.
From 2018 to 2022, she worked as a photojournalist for PlayGround Mag. In 2021, she was selected for a Vist Projects Fellowship to study with photographer Yael Martínez. Since last year, she has been part of the Observadores Urbanos team, and a few months ago, she joined the Street Macadam team, where she conducts interviews with photographers in English and Spanish and works as an editor. She also joined the La Vereda team, which promotes and encourages street photography in Argentina.

Elsa Arrais approaches street photography as a space of emergence — what she defines as “the space in which Quessence learns how to appear.” Her practice inhabits the threshold between presence and disappearance. In the accelerated choreography of the street, she seeks what resists spectacle: subtle alignments between gesture, architecture, shadow, and silence. The street becomes a field of latent tensions rather than a stage of events. Grounded in attentive slowness and monochrome minimalism, her images distill fleeting encounters into structures of quiet intensity. “Quessence” — the fleeting essence embedded in the everyday — functions as both method and philosophy: a way of rendering perceptible what usually dissolves in transit. She is founder of OPEmagazine and currently curates Street Photography Brazil and Street Me Up, contributing to contemporary street photography discourse beyond her own practice.

Her path into photography began at the University of Urbino in Italy, where she focused on forensic photography—macro and micro imagery—an art she continues to practice professionally as an expert witness in court. In recent years, her lens has turned toward the street. Through workshops and courses in Greece and abroad, she has immersed herself in street photography and the broader visual arts. In the field of street photography, she has trained under Nikos Ekonomopoulos, Julia Coddington, and Vineet Vohra.
Her camera most often roams the streets, attuned to the rhythm of reflexive music, searching for fractures in time, peculiarities, and subtle distortions of reality—moments that yield enigmatic images, often tinged with a cinematic or pictorial quality. Alongside this, her work also embraces intimate portraits and fleeting glimpses of her two children, using street photographic language.

Originally from Canada and now based in Chicago, she is a street and documentary photographer drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday life. With a background in academia studying human behavior, she turned to photography as another way of asking the same questions—through light, gesture, and shared space rather than words. She describes her practice as “life photography,” attentive to small, unscripted moments where people live, connect, worship, celebrate, and endure. In the street, where nothing is staged, and everything is vulnerable to interruption, she seeks subtle relationships of color, form, and movement that connect subject and surroundings into a cohesive whole.

I took up photography in Singapore in 2020 during COVID times, when my world, just like the rest of it, came to a standstill. During those first and most formative years, I photographed my then-home, Singapore. With no opportunity to travel abroad, I was happily forced to document my own city. I became part of the Women in Street Singapore collective, which enabled me to develop a valuable network of friends with similar photographic passions and obsessions.
My street photography enables me to immerse myself in a city and switch off my usually overcrowded brain. When I am out on the streets to photograph, I cannot think of anything but my surroundings. I think about light direction, people’s walking directions, timings, and composition; I do not think about work, life, or family. My photography is characterized by clean, elegant, yet layered photos that make use of geometry and contrasts. However, the mood and environment I am in seriously affect the type of photos I take. During a more troubled time in my life, I intuitively switched to black and white, gritty photos. In other circumstances, I might be capturing the colourful world around and inside me instead.

Cultural journalist, documentary photographer, and independent multimedia communicator with a postgraduate degree in Communication for Social Development. As a native and resident of the Colombian Caribbean, I have been exploring its popular culture, memories, and everyday life through photography and writing for 10 years. I narrate without haste and with independence to rescue from oblivion what it wants to take away, to get even closer to my territory and its people. I document what moves me about my Caribbean; it is a way of embracing it, of getting into its nooks and crannies and introducing it more into my memory because time is rushing by, and I may forget how it was.

Experience and artistic vision:
Margarita Gasca Oderiz is a Mexican photographer, visual artist, and former journalist. A chronicler of the streets, she directs her lens toward fleeting moments that reveal untold stories. Deeply influenced by art, cinema, and literature, her work weaves together mystery, cinematic atmospheres, and a dreamlike perception of reality. As a passionate traveler, she embraces the philosophy of being “on the road”, documenting the essence and spirit of places across the world. On the Road), documentando la esencia y el espíritu de distintos lugares alrededor del mundo.

I am mostly interested in black and white humanist street and documentary photography. “The Marvels of Daily Life”, the name of my website and Instagram page, is based on a quote by one of my favourite photographers, Robert Doisneau, which perfectly sums up my philosophy on street photography – “The marvels of daily life are so exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.” I am also a curator for the Instagram pages @street_macadam @mystreet_women @badass_bnw, and @_keepcalmandcarryone_ and have also been in the jury of a number of prestigious photography competitions.

She is a self-taught photographer from Tijuana, Mexico, whose unique vision stems from a constant desire to explore and understand her surroundings. Her foray into everyday photography began when she joined the Postal5.6 photographic community, an invitation from her friend and mentor, photographer Alonso Díaz de Anda, that provided a space where she could transform her curiosity into a deep passion. Through her camera, she captures fleeting moments that reveal stories, emotions, and details invisible to the naked eye, using photography as a form of personal connection and artistic expression.
Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to participate in group exhibitions and festivals in various cities across Mexico and Argentina, where her work has been well-received for its ability to capture the essence of urban life with a unique perspective. She has also participated in workshops with masters such as Christelle Enquist, Juan Carlos Reyes, and Gustavo Minas, and is currently taking a seminar with master photographer Shalom Valdez- experiences that continue to enrich her vision and photographic technique.
Her work, deeply influenced by everyday life and the pulse of the city, continues to evolve, always seeking new ways to interpret and convey the visual stories that unfold before her eyes.

When she took up photography, she was completely drawn to the candid and surprising elements of street photography, and most enjoys being at the ocean to create images. Her beach project work is characterised by using the plentiful Australian light and colours, and then capturing special small moments to create images with an emotive resonance.
She is cofounder of the Unexposed Collective, an initiative that connects and builds the community of women and non-binary street photographers. She has co-curated several international multi-artist street photography exhibitions, judged and presented at street photography festivals, and had her work published and exhibited internationally.

Architect, photographer and mother
Renata D’Angelo was born in bustling São Paulo and spent her childhood enjoying the Brazilian coastline.
At the turn of the millennium, she traded the Atlantic for the Mediterranean, moving to Barcelona, where she now pursues her professional career as an architect and photographer.
Her story is key to understanding her tropical perspective on the Mediterranean world. This duality imbues her photos with a halo of joyful nostalgia, of saudade, as if happiness were present yet slipping away. saudade, como si la felicidad estuviera presente pero escapándose.
Always with a camera in hand, she captures everyday moments in the streets of Barcelona and within her own family circle, before time erases them.
She observes the city with an eye that frames the scene even before she raises her camera. Every gesture, every exchange of glances, every everyday moment becomes a potential image.

I have always been interested in documentary and travel photography as I travel a lot. It is only when I started to join workshops abroad that I got more involved in street photography.
I am attracted to the unknown, the foreign, and am very much interested in different cultures. A camera is a good tool to observe, to get closer to people, and to interact with them.
For me, street photography is about capturing unplanned moments, genuine interactions, emotions, and instants of everyday life.
I am fascinated by the city, its people, and its dynamics. In the chaos of the streets, I look for interesting scenes, people, situations, action, etc... but most of all I look for those little moments of everyday life that move me. In general, I prefer quiet scenes to overly busy ones.
En general, prefiero las escenas tranquilas a las demasiado concurridas.

A Mexican photographer and architect by training, her work explores the relationship between space, memory, and the human condition. For over a decade, she has been developing long-term projects in Mexico and Latin America, examining how bodies inhabit territories shaped by history, gender, and social tension, and how identity is inscribed in these landscapes. Her gaze is directed towards the infraordinary: subtle gestures and intimate spaces where dignity and resistance emerge far from the spectacle. Through the sustained processes and bonds of trust, she constructs narratives anchored in specific contexts that engage with global audiences.

My work focuses on the quiet, often overlooked moments of everyday life in public spaces. I am drawn to the relationship between people and their surroundings—how architecture, light, shadows, and movement shape human presence in the street.
Rather than seeking dramatic events, I pay attention to subtle gestures, brief encounters, and the visual tension created by coincidence. Light and shadow play an essential role in my photographs, not only as formal elements but also as tools to suggest emotion, distance, and contemplation.
Street photography, for me, is a way of observing life without interruption. I approach the street with patience and intuition, allowing scenes to unfold naturally. My aim is not to document, but to interpret—capturing fragments of reality that reflect both the external world and an inner sense of rhythm and silence.
Through my images, I seek to create a visual dialogue between place and human presence, inviting the viewer to slow down and rediscover the poetry hidden in ordinary moments.

My photographs and interviews have been featured in Eyeshot Magazine (The Mirror Issue) and in various international online platforms dedicated to street photography.

I realized that the more I managed to look within myself, the more I was able to “feel with my eyes.” One element that deeply represents my way of seeing is the use of reflections: not for purely aesthetic reasons, but because I strongly believe that life has multiple layers of reality. Reflections come close to this way of understanding things and, in a sense, make the invisible visible.
